Exceptional Consumer Support - Phone Mount For Motorcycle Critique

By Anthony Peterson

I bought this handy little gadget about 7 months ago now. I use the vent mount with two different Honda Accords, 1989 and 2006. It only turns about 15-20 degrees either way. It goes up/down quite a way, but not side by side, which is simply bad design.

I chose to use the vent mounts in my 2007 Toyota Tundra. I did add 4 pieces of rubber tubing on the clips to make them more "grippy", since plastic on plastic tends to slide around. I use it daily and have never once fallen off my windshield after about a years' worth of use. I highly recommend this. Now I can keep my eyes on the road, use GPS, MP3 & blue tooth phone without looking down. Great quality and price too! I knew that many holders wouldn't fit the X. But, this one does, and it's solid. This was fairly obvious out-of-the-box on how to assemble it and mount it to the air vents, which is a plus; simple design is always a good thing. It took me 5 minutes to put it together and mount it.

And it is very adjustable. I can view the phone in the landscape or portrait mode. This unit is completely adjustable and functions well. It is compatible with the Droid Incredible.

Make sure that you understand that the feet along the bottom can be widened or narrowed. But I do wish the vent hooks that try and hold the unit onto the back of each vent held stronger. I was concerned about this, as I didn't want to risk my new phone in something that wouldn't hold it right. But after trying it out, I'm very pleased with how snugly the mount grips the phone.

There is no spring. They rely on the springiness of the plastic. If you have the extended battery or a case -- you are out of luck. I found this case to be a cheap, functional replacement.

After seeing how well it worked, my wife wanted one for her Droid Incredible. She has a small silicone protector and it fits the holder just as well. I was looking forward to the Vent Mount, hooked onto the vent no problem. Two weeks later one of the clips where you insert it into the vent broke off.
