Cloud Predictions - What We Might Expect In The Next 12 Months

By Daniel Handler

Cloud computing is a company providing service in a technological way that is new. It is also a term used to describe that type of service. When an Expo in New York was held in 2007 not many people attended. This year an Exposition is scheduled for November 7-10 and it is expecting over 5,000 visitors. The site of the event is Santa Clara.

Since it was started, the idea and use of cloud servers has grown. It is a technology embraced in the IT world. What it does is make a sharing of resources possible. You can compare it to an electricity grid as the ones used in solar panel networking. Just as the electricity sharing is done over the grid, cloud technology shares information on the Internet without any downloads being required. This is a limited explanation because the technology encompasses so many more functions.

Predictions for this technology are all positive. Experts expect it to continue to succeed and grow in the next five years. It is unique in that end users receive services without being informed where they are sent from. The configuration of the services that are delivered to the end users do not have to be understood by them.

Predictions for the year 2012 include one from a financial expert who is a household name. According to him cloud computing services are going to be purchased by 80 percent of the Fortune 1000 enterprises. The major concerns about security-based services being managed externally will be addressed. New methods are going to be developed and used to increase protection of sensitive information.

Adding new methods of security to new methods of computing is going to be a prominent endeavor in 2012. There are even departmentalized issues relating to security. They include sensitive data access, bug exploitation and malicious insiders. Multi-tenant concerns are also receiving major attention. These and other issues are going to be investigated and solutions will be devised.

Environmental concerns are well thought out and green computing is put into action as much as possible. This concept will be expanded. Compromises are going to be made that will minimize power consumption. Carbon footprints are going to be minimized to the maximum degree.

According to a Vice President of Marketing for one of the prominent data centers, public power failures will happen in 2012. Previously, several took place in 2010 and 2011. Customers did not consider them a major problem. They were able to cope with them, considering them minor interruptions. New strategies have been used to deal with the inconvenience. Infrastructure 2.0 will advance significantly in 2012 and the use of cloud will facilitate penetration of the LAN barrier.

Everyone will be capable of becoming a service provider because dependence on infrastructure is not going to be necessary. Company employees will be able to work anywhere with documents located on the Internet necessary to complete their work. They are going to be able to access computer files from any device. New service providers will be able to merge with partners. This will enable them to share and utilize data.

Another independent expert says this technology will be a boon to many developing countries on the continent of Africa. One unique prediction for 2012 is that African governments will benefit because of this new technology. It is a significant tool for them to use. Cloud computing will facilitate economic growth in countries all over the world.
