Things That Describe An Ideal Mailbox

By Grace Anderson

Did you realize that your mailbox is usually the first thing people see when they pull up to your house? Most people do not give much thought to their mailboxes at all.

Now is the perfect time to replace your old dented rusting mailbox. With all the choices available for purchase you are sure to find a model that will make your home look great.

Cutesy designs for mailboxes were the rage a decade ago; people could get a mailbox in the shape that they wanted even ones that were in the shape of a dog or bird. Go for the classic look it never goes out of style.

If you decide to go a novelty it could be a target for vandals. If you go for a classic like the all American mailbox it will give you years of service without looking dated a may not catch the eye of any vandals.

Chances are you will want a mailbox that lasts. Your safest bet would be a completely weather resistant mailbox. Therefore your mailbox will look new for years to come with little or no maintenance.

You'll want to make sure that your mailbox and the post you mount it on are made from a rust resistant, durable aluminum material. The box itself should always have a weather safe powder coat finish for extra protection.

People like to mount their mailboxes on a brick or stone pillar to match the outside of their homes. This looks nice but if you move you can't take it with you. Custom mailboxes can be ordered with matching posts that are portable.

For extra functionality you could order a mailbox that is designed with plenty of room and also has an attached newspaper holder. This way you will not have your mail and newspapers falling out of your mailbox.
