Are You an Android OS Expert?

By Stuart Zaki

You already know that the Android OS has been adopted by cellular phone developers from all over the place. You've probably read the articles that say the "Google phones" are highly competitive against the other smart phones out there. It is definitely true that the Google phones are getting to be more popular every day. This could be attributed to the fact that the Google phones that are being promoted have all been modeled after the smart phones that have already achieved popularity. This shows that Google pays attention to trends and buying practices and tries to give the public what it wants. The following are some great facts about the Android OS that you might not yet know.

You might be interested in knowing more than one hundred phones currently use the Android OS. There are limitless choices when comparing that to the unending supply of Apple phones and Blackberry phones. If you are the type of person who likes options it is important to note this. The infinite number of Google phones offers customers the ability to customize their phones to their desires rather than just what they can get in a package deal. You have the flexibility to choose only the services you need without being forced to take a system or service you don't want. Your lifestyle can dictate the choices you make in a phone that fits you best.

The more time passes, the more Android sales out perform iPhone sales. In six states the Android OS phones outsell the iPhone by quite a lot! Unfortunately, the study might be skewed by the fact that those six states are more rural and probably sell more Android phones because the states don't have very good AT&T service. The iPhone is currently only available through AT&T so that might have something to do with the numbers. If AT&T ever loses the iPhone exclusivity contract those numbers might change and the study will have to be redone. If you are not thrilled with the iPhone handset that is pretty much too bad. If you aren't a fan of the Blackberry headset there are a few other basic options available to you. If you don't like your current headset on your Android phone you have a bunch of other options to choose from. If you want to have a lot of different choices you'll want to choose a Google phone. You will have these choices because all of the major phone manufacturers are starting to adopt the Android OS for their phones so, no matter what kind of handset you like, you'll find a Google phone that fits it.Many iPhone chose their phone because they were familiar with the brand name. They purchased the iPhone not because of features or functions but because it was created by Apple. Apple's overall fan base is perhaps larger than some other brands. Consumers of Android OS are not yet as committed to their product. They will most likely choose a phone because of it's pricing or technology. Loyal iPhone users will recommend their phone to everyone they talk to about cellular devices. Android users lack the zeal for the product to recommend others use it too.Believe it or not, Linux is the inspiration for the Android OS. People who do not want to use Windows or the current Mac OS use Linux (an open source alternative). There are lots of rumors to sort through about why Google wanted the OS so much. Just about everybody knows that Microsoft and Google have a long and established rivalry. Are you really so surprised to learn, then, that Google would be so anxious to get its hands on a system that would be a major rival for the Windows OS? Another bonus to using a Linux system means that anybody can develop new versions or uses for the system. This helps keep operating costs low and profits high.

Recent studies show that smart phones, especially those that use the Android OS, are used more by men than by women. Across the board men are more likely to use a smart phone than women (the study does not say why this is). The numbers are closer together with the iPhone. A little more than half of the iPhone users are men. With the Android, however, almost three quarters of all Android OS users are male. We are not sure why this is. Perhaps because men are more likely to rush out and buy new technology? The study does not say definitely why the numbers are the way they are.

There are just as many, if not more, rumors as facts about the Google phone. The fact is that Google phones-phones that run the Android OS-are becoming more prevalent across the cellular market. Cellular developers like Samsung, Motorola and HTC are all using the Android operating system now. The good news is that smart phones are cheaper and more readily available than ever. The bad news is...well, there really isn't any bad news about smart phones right now, is there?Choosing your next cellular phone used to be easy. You just took whatever free upgrade was available from your provider. Now you are more likely to choose a provider based on the types of phones it offers. The good news is that, for smart phone fans, the Android OS lets you have the phone you want without having to take the provider into consideration. Doesn't that make you happy? Many people do not know that Android phones are all over the world. Look at your phone, is it an Android OS phone? iPhones and Blackberry Phones are among the few phones not currently using an Android Operating System. That is because many providers began implementing the open source Android OS in 2007 after it's premier. How many times have you changed phones since 2007?We can think of a whole bunch of reasons to choose an Android phone over the other smart phones that are being sold right now. This is because the Android OS is awesome. This would be true even if we weren't ready to admit that we are fans of the system. There are updates to the Android system released every day and, thanks to the open source status of the system, anybody can work on it, improve it and make it better. Any day now, the Android phone is going to surpass its smart phone competitors and become the most popular phone available. Before you know it, the Google phones will have at least met if not surpassed the other smart phones in popularity.
