Fun Facts About The Android OS

By Tommy Perkins

Advertising for the Google phone is widespread nationally and you've probably seen several advertisements. The new Google phones have been the topic of recent conversations but you want to know more. The fact is that a Google phone runs the Android OS much like a computer runs Windows OS. The similarities between the Google phone and other phones are stops there.

The Android OS (Operating System) is used on a lot of phones. The operating system first hit the market a few years ago but has exploded in popularity as more and more wireless developers are choosing to use it for smart phones. Smart phones are currently the most popular accessory to own (and for good reason!) In addition to being useful phones, smart phones are great internet browsers, music players, cameras and entertainment systems. You can use them for more than just that--they are also good for watching videos, taking notes and plenty of other things as well! Here are some facts that you might not already know about Android phones.

According to one website Google is not the original creator of the Android OS. We are very aware of the fact that Google is given all of the credit for creating this OS and these phones. Lots of people refer to the phones simply as "Google phones" when they research them. The Android OS is actually invented by Andy Rubin and Rich Miner (at least, according to our research). They invented the OS in 2003 and later sold it to the Google corporatoin for a lot of money. After they bought the OS, Google sat on it for a few years while they developed it further and got it ready to be sent out in mobile devices.

The popular iPhone has many users who purchased the phone because they were familiar with Apple computers. Thinking about the stability and security they found with Apple brand products is what has prompted most iPhone users to buy the iPhone. The number of Apple product consumers that make up the fan base is infinite. Android OS users pale in comparison. Some users do not necessarily make the best decisions when it comes to their phone options and choices.Of course, people who use the iPhone are more likely to recommend their phone to others. Android users lack the zeal for the product to recommend others use it too.

Recent studies show that smart phones, especially those that use the Android OS, are used more by men than by women. Across the board men are more likely to use a smart phone than women (the study does not say why this is). The study does how that the gap is smaller where the iPhone is concerned. Men make up only a little bit more than half of the total users of iPhones. With the Android phone, on the other hand, almost seventy five percent of the users are male. Why this is true is a mystery. Maybe because men seem to be far more likely to buy new technology as soon as it is released? The study did not say definitively why the numbers ended up the way they did.

Choosing your next cellular phone used to be easy. You probably just accepted your free upgrade from your provider. Now you might be apt to choose your cellular provider based solely on the types of phones it will sell to you. The good news for people who like smart phones is that, because of the Android OS availability, you can have a smart phone no matter which provider you choose. Doesn't that make you happy?
