IVVR Makes Customer Service More Personal

By Thomas Carter

Nowadays we live a life that involves a lot of automated services. Every time we go to an ATM we use a machine and when we want to fill up our cars with gas we use a credit card in a machine. The most recent example of automated services gone crazy was when a famous frozen yogurt firm announced it has just installed automated ice cream and yogurt dispensers throughout their shops.

We often use automated services instead of speaking to people with customer services often using recorded messages to handle complaints and queries. But lately a new service has become hugely popular in the customer services sector that allows customers to feel like they are talking to a live person rather than a machine.

## How Does IVR Technology Work?

Many people are unaware that IVR (Interactive Voice Response) has been in use for a few years now and is commonly used in customer services. IVR technology includes everyday tasks such as voice dialing a contact in your cell phone and with many countries around the world clamping down on cell phone use while driving --- this sort of technology is practical and simple to utilize.

## Network IVR

Network IVR is the most commonly used form of IVR and many of us use it all the time without even knowing it. Network IVR has largely replaced the use of touch-tone and a larger number of telephone calls can be handled with Network IVR than through any other method.

The system uses a computer that detects spoken words from a regular phone call. Based on the response from the customer, the system outputs pre-recorded responses that will guide the customer further through other menu options.

## IVVR

IVR technology has evolved into a different type of IVR known as IVVR (Interactive Voice and Video Response). IVVR uses visual technology as well as sound to work and this makes the overall experience a far more personal and pleasurable one. The internet is home to examples of how IVVR works and one example shows how a user makes a telephone call to a firm that shows the user how to correctly throw a baseball.

One useful example is a video that when asked by a voice command to show the customer how to throw the perfect pitch; a video will appear doing just that.

## Lawful Intercept

With new technology comes a huge responsibility to ensure public safety and in response to this need -- Lawful Intercept was set up. The system works effectively in the fight against crime and many companies are required by law to ensure public safety levels are as high as possible. Lawful Intercept offers its users a huge range of choices when it comes to systems and technologies including ways to protect against cyber fraudulence.
