Driving Safely With The Use Of Hands Free Devices

By Doug Smith

Everywhere you look these days someone is on a cell phone, whether it is in the grocery store, walking, at a restaurant and most especially while driving the car. We just love to chit chat and most especially we can't let go of our cell phones.

I could still recall the time when cell phones became available in the market. I had a friend back then, and the two of us had one each. The phones in the olden days were so big, it's like you're bringing a bag along. We lugged them everywhere, and talked to each other as often as we could, and though I hate to admit it, we did use them a lot while driving, just so we could use the phones! Having those phones at that time made us feel hip! You should see how the cell phones look these days. Our cell phones today have improved a great deal from the once massive to now sleek and can even do almost anything, not including windows! We wouldn't think of going anywhere without our cell phones. Cell phones have been a big help for us women especially at these times have become unsafe for us to be anywhere in the city with no companion.

To be able to drive properly and securely, you need two hands to do that. Taking away one hand for your cell phone use is very risky. A research conducted by the University of Utah revealed that people who are on the phone while driving are similar to people who are drunk and driving. It's a disaster that is waiting around the bend. Cell phone usage in the cars are not one of our advocacies. Some of the states have intentions of making a law that forbids handling a cell phone while driving with no exclusions. Cell phones are still being used by people while in their cars until the time comes when it is banned by law. However, there is another way to use your cell phone in a safer way and still drive with both hands, that is a hand's free device. And as of July 1, 2008, California Senate Bill 1613 states that you must use a hands free device if you are talking on your cell phone while driving. Your cell phone will no longer be allowed in your car as stated in the bill, except if a hand's free device is attached to it.

My husband who spends an incredible amount of time working on the computer will tell you his Blue Tooth Headset is a godsend. Be on the phone and still be able to type on his computer, that is what my husband usually does when he is with a client. He can talk on the phone for extensive hours. Typing and at the same time handling your phone is not easy when there is no device to assist you on that. Even if it's placed in between the neck and shoulder, the neck will experience cramps. So a few years ago I bought him a Blue Tooth Headset, and he says he won't ever go without a hand's free device again.

If you cradle a phone, or cell phone between your neck and shoulders, you are creating a position that compresses the nerves in the neck and shoulders. A person who does this frequently have headaches. It will generally start from aching arms, hands, neck and shoulders. So that you won't be able to experience those aching body parts, try a hand's free device. The Blue Tooth Headset that I bought can be used with ease. It's trouble-free, it's wireless and even has good sound quality. Motorola sells hands free devices that is sure to meet your various needs, in different shapes and designs. It's speakerphone can even be attached on the visor of your car. Using this in the state of California while driving is not prohibited. With this one, a wireless headset is not needed anymore.

Drive safely and comply with traffic rules and regulations. Wear your hand's free device if you have to talk on the phone while driving.
