5 Harsh Realities Of Searches

By Michael Sant

Advertising via SMS is a relatively new marketing strategy that is very effective. SMS is an abbreviation for short message service. SMS messages are more-commonly referred to as text messages. SMS messages are short (usually limited to 160 characters) textual messages that can be sent from a mobile phone to another mobile phone or from a computer to a mobile phone. SMS messages can be used in numerous ways for the purpose of marketing and advertising.

Social media integration is one marketing tactic for which SMS messaging could be used. You could have a promotion or sale only on your social media page, for example, and notify potential customers of this promotion by sending them an SMS message. Then many of those customers and potential customers will go to your business's social media page, which will produce more "likes" and fans of your page. Once the customer is connected to your business' social media page, it will be easier to reach these customers and efficiently advertise to them in the future, and it will be easier for the customer to keep up with your business. Also, many of these new customers' social media connections and friends will see that their friend is following your page, which in turn might motivate them to also check out your page, and so on.

Another method of using SMS messages for marketing is through a process called "lead generation." Providing a customer with instructions, within an advertisement, regarding how the customer can find more information about the product or service advertised, is called "lead generation" marketing. An advertisement in print or on the radio could include a five-digit or seven-digit number to which a customer could send a text message in order to receive more information about your business via SMS message.

Once the customer has communicated with your business via SMS, you have a more direct way of marketing to this customer in the future. You could provide an option for your customers to sign up to receive text messages about future updates to the product that he or she purchased. You could provide a way for the customer to subscribe to updates from your business via SMS messaging. SMS subscribers could also be sent coupons or discounts or other exclusive incentives from your business. The possible uses of SMS messages for marketing are without limit.

If you use many different strategies and ideas for marketing to potential customers, you will have more chances of actually attaining customers. Every day, the number of cellular telephone users worldwide is growing. Accordingly, the potential audience for your SMS message marketing is expanding constantly. One of the most effective methods of marketing currently available, SMS messaging could be a good addition to your company's marketing repertory.
