Deciding On The Proper Cellular Device: Nokia C2-01 Review

By John Conner

When the time comes to shop for a cell phone or mobile service provider, there is a myriad of choices available that may be overwhelming at times. Each device advertises different features and specifications such as screens, buttons, technology, and style. Once you're aware of what the options are, making a decision shouldn't be that difficult so long as you take some time to discover what you want in a phone. For those who wish nothing more than an easy to use, uncomplicated, inexpensive, but trustworthy device, the Nokia C2-01 should be one of the top choices.

The convenience that comes with this device is its compact size which fits nicely in your pocket. Those who have experience carrying a larger and bulkier phone which requires a purse or bag will appreciate this characteristic. As can be assumed by its size, this phone does not possess the common smart-phone features such as Wi-Fi, a touchscreen, or video-call camera. It is a simple handset with straightforward features.

Other features include a video recorder and 3.2 megapixel camera, but one shouldn't expect the video quality to be very high when watching them from a computer or television screen. The phone itself does not possess enough storage space to take many photos, but it does support a microSD card which can be purchased separately. These cards can add up to 16 GB of extra space on the phone, which will allow you more freedom to shoot videos and take photos.

If you're one of those who prefer to be connected wherever you are, this phone also features 3G connectivity which facilitates speedy surfing. Though the screen is a bit too small to make web surfing convenient, the mobile phone has other interesting qualities such as a preloaded Facebook application for checking updates and friends' reports. It is also possible to download more applications from the "Ovi Store" directly on the phone, which is a feature rarely found in other phones within a similar price range.

The buttons on the keypad are unexaggerated and easy to use. The material with which they are made gives the user an obvious feeling of simplicity since it is of rather poor quality.

The Nokia C2-01 comes with a port that can be used with the included wall charger, but also features a mini USB port so that you can not only transfer data from the device to the computer, but also use your computer to charge the device. A third port can be found which connects to a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

One of the benefits of this inexpensive cellular device is that it is available on a pay-as-you-go plan with most mobile service providers. This mobile handset can be purchased with this plan for less than 100 dollars and is therefore ideal for those who want stay connected without breaking their wallet.

One shouldn't expect the same out of the Nokia C2-01 as other smartphones marketed by Samsung or LG. It does indeed perform its role well in providing you with a reliable mobile device without spending too much money.
