The Mind And Emotional Connection Of Influence And Leadership

By Andy Shin

Today, with celebrity sex tapes, political backsliders and executives that have lost sight of the meaning of honor, integrity and true victory we often turn to literature for content that can energize the soul while invigorating the heart. Literature seems to have a way of inspiring the modern reader with concepts that that dined men of character and resolve in a time that has passed and has been all but forgotten.

This evening, the rain was pouring down as the winter chill crept through my skin and bit me at the bone. My joints were stiff from the moisture in the air and my arthritis wrapped its icy fingers around my spine. After a day filled with layoffs, management woes and existing within an establishment setting where glass ceilings cage in all those who stand beneath it I was looking everywhere and anywhere for a hint of something that could inspire us.

I was a devout catholic until it was discovered my parish priest was a pedophile. I've been married twice and am, again, on my own and the walls have a way of closing in at a more rapid pace when my emotions plunge to the level that they did today. I find myself looking for answers to the question of 'why' and there is never a response that can satisfy me and take away the gloom that has numbed my heart and broadened the void within my being. The world is disintegrating in front of our eyes. What is it that could give us hope when all hope seems to be lost? I went to iTunes and started surfing around for inspirational material; nature sounds, inspirational music, anything.

I came across a podcast channel put up by a company called Princeton Corporate Solutions. The podcast was on leadership and executive pedigree, the soothing voice of the professional voiceover reader, the classical music introduction, each podcast was filled with knowledge and empowering concepts that helps executives that are corporate leaders in taking control of chaos and capturing the vital beacon that exists within each situation. The podcast was based off of a book authored by the company's founder James Scott. I was so touched by this purely honest and selfless podcast that I wanted to research this leader to find out what convinced him to put out free education for executives that need real leadership when PSC nor James Scott make a dime off of this content.

As I researched him and this company I was awakened to leadership and influence in its purest sense. Untainted, genuine and without an ulterior motivation, Princeton Corporate Solutions took an industry (OTC, Microcap and globalization strategies for companies that want to go public) and brought order where there was none. The authoritative nature of their captain, James Scott was uncompromising and unflinching. I found a YouTube channel with more free information ranging from how to qualify a corporate attorney to how to take your company public, all free, his voice was so soothing and dripping with a confidence that is absent from leaders today. There was zero doubt, absolute integrity and his knowledge demanded the listener to keep listening and to research him more.

I sat there listing to the podcasts over and over again as his calm voice took me to a place of warmth and comfort and I was overcome with a peace that I haven't felt for so long. I found an article about James Scott was written by an MBA student that had just heard him speak at an economics forum and rewrote William Ernest Henley's poem 'Invictus' while plugging in quotations from this leader of leaders.

The lack of leadership in our country has reached epidemic proportions. Scam artists and lying politicians callous even the purest hearts and steal the dreams and definition of god from those who have not yet chosen a spiritual path. James Scott has redefined the modern leader with action and a lifestyle that screams to the heart of those around him, "Wake up! Wake up!" and without the emptiness of a long, drawn out lecture, he simply says, 'Follow me, let me show you the way'.
