It's time to exhibit "iPhone 5 case". Note that, as with other cases, they seem to provide a cutout in the top right-hand corner. What is this meant to be for? The flash? If that is so why the cutout to the top left showing both camera and flash?
Now, to tool up and turn out even a prototype is a expensive exercise therefore one would imagine, no case manufacturer would go to that cost unless they knew something others don't.
To make cases needs exact specifications. To get the specs means having a spy somewhere in Foxconn or knowing someone who knows a spy. Or, if a competitor has got the specs, having a spy in that camp. The specific dimensions to permit a manufacturer to make a mould would be worth a large amount of money (some say up to US$200,000) "which is some enticement, isn't it? That is, naturally, if whoever has got hold of the info is prepared to chance imprisonment.
Therefore there should be something in such cases, mustn't there?
Definitely not, in our view. Which case manufacturer in their right mind would communicate info which would be of use to a competitor? If they have the dimensions then they'll keep very quiet about it. They will secretly make their own mould and be positioned to go into produce well in advance of the iPhone5 release date. It's a trick then? In our view, definitely yes.
Does somebody have the genuine dimensions to permit them to make a mould? Well, according to our Englishman in Hong Kong, the answer is yes. We hope to have additional info for you inside the day after or so. But what we would like to see isn't another Photoshopped picture of a unreal case but of the mould or housing, itself.
