.mobi Dental Website: Is It "a Must Have" or "Just a Frivolous" for a Dentist?

By Aiden Edgar

Our world has grown smaller thanks to the Internet, and now that we have mobile smart phones, as well as totally wireless Internet it grows even smaller day-by-day. Not only do we have mobile smartphones, but today we even have what's known as "Web phones, and there is even a designation for domain names that are meant for use on those called a .mobi. They are called thus because they are incredibly but very specifically designed for those smaller screens that such mobile phones feature.

Children especially love mobile phones above all and thus if you are trying to appeal to children it behooves you to have your health information forms available for use by Web phones. The older generation has problems filling those out but the younger generation is very fast in typing on small keyboards. Since mobile phones allow one to surf the Internet from anywhere, mobile phones are growing in popularity daily.

The reason why we say that we have smart dental practitioners, is that dental practitioners world wide have found that by having this kind of .mobi dental website, that parents are allowing their children to go to the websites to play and even to make their own appointments using their Web phones. Children dentistry specialization is difficult to advertise for, as no one seems to be using phone books anymore, but having such a mobile website seems to be attracting parents all over, and even the kids are passing along the web addresses to each other in school if the dental practitioner has placed enough on the site to be attractive to young children. These are sites that are littered with dentistry games, dental word finds, and even dental crossword puzzles. For younger children, many dental practitioners have figured out that all children love to see animals, thus they pepper their site with many animals, and even animal sounds. One very smart dental practitioner has even offered a free bike drawing with a properly filled out dental brushing report card.

For older children you might have entries that require them to write about why brushing is important for example, anything that is specifically about dentistry. One children's dentist has used a "Dental Brushing Report Online." This is but one of various instances of a well-liked IT feature that has been embedded in a particular web site that was especially designed to appeal specifically to children.

You may wish to consider a children's mobile site that is pattered after a construction site. For some reason children seem to have a deep attachment to construction equipment. Your construction site may include a means of making a mobile online dental appointment from there.

Believe it or not, children will absolutely be enchanted in making their own appointments using a webphone. Be sure to have your website set up for this particular activity and you will hear that parents have actually allowed their young child to make appointments for themselves as well as for the parent!

By having a special children's section aimed in a dental mobile website, children will learn that even dental practitioners can be fun and rewarding. The website should be a fun, positive experience as can the visit to the dentist, thus one actually becomes an extension of the other.

The answer to the question above is that it is not even remotely a frivolous idea to have a .mobi dental website, but in actuality is a definitely "must have" for any dentist contemplating treating children. The parents will thank you and your practice will thank you for it.
