LG Optimus 3d phone

By Dalip Somal

It had not been too far back that the thought of a Phone weighing 200g and then computing 2cm thick looked realistic; it again was, after all, a mini-computer. We try to remember a associate at the time when the Nokia N90 Communicator was unveiled.

The LG Optimus a 3d model isn't quite as thick or weighty. Its 12mm depth is equivalent to devices from rival HTC, nevertheless its 168g weight happens to be appreciably much more, of course, if you correspond to this weight with the 3D's 4.3-inch display, this handset appears enormous. Its 4.3-inch display expands across the face of this unit with a thin strip of touch-sensitive buttons beneath the screen. There are micro-USB and micro-HDMI cable ports on the left-hand side of the unit - protected by those pesky plastic latches that only LG persists in making use of - and a normal 3.5mm headset socket on the top.

Those acquainted with LG's fashion-forward devices of the past will not recognise the serious-looking Optimus 3D. There isn't any colourful trim, ala the LG New Chocolate, neither any lashings of stainless steel, while we observed on lots of LG phones before. In lieu, the Optimus 3 dimensional is wrapped in a presentable but dull grey-coloured, soft-touch plastic having strips of faux-metal running along the bottom and top from the face of this smart phone. The outcome is a polished appearance, yet it's definitely not eye-catching.

The 3D's Liquid crystal display is of a decent quality, indicating fine colour and a few reasonably deep black. Similarly to LG's previous Smartphone releases this year, this display screen favours whites over blacks, with net surfing coming up trumps with this equation. One appealing point that many of us found during our assessment is that this screen is nearly completely invisible when viewed through sunglasses with a polarising filter.

I am not sure if this has something connected to the nature of its 3d display, but it's unquestionably a shame for anyone who works outdoors and puts on a decent set of sun shades.
