Safety with vehicle trackers

By Jay Leigh

This Saturday was my youngest children 9th birthday and before any threat of snow we decided we'd travel to Huddersfield to join some mates who host 'Photo Shoot ' parties. It all sounded fabulous "we might take my other child and 3 other pals across to Huddersfield, a journey we probably did just about every month so all good.

The morning came and we had six extremely excited young ladies but four pairs of pretty anxious parents. We called through a couple of hours earlier to check the forecast there and it was clear. It wasn't too bad where we live so we presumed yes, let's go and worse case scenario we might cut the party short and leave sooner than planned.

My man has a car tracker system on his auto which he uses for work and when the folks dropped the girls off he gave them the login details 'to follow us on the journey to and from the party'. To be honest I believed that it was a little 'flash ' and couldn't imagine any of the elders really logging in.

So off we went and it's fare to say that some of the journey there had been a little fraught although not too bad and the excitement over took any nerves I might have had and was focusing on the children more than forecasting how much snow there was on the road.

As quickly as we crossed the Yorkshire Moors it was clear and I was flabbergasted that there had been minimal sign of snow to be had. Relieved to have got there the party started and we had a ball.

Towards the end of the party we decided that we might cut the party short and have a film at home if we received back in time. There was still no snow but thought that we should make a move anyway. We called ahead to let everyone know we were on our way.

We got onto the motorway and wow how swiftly it modified. I won't go on about the journey only that folk were abandoning their autos on the motorway. We kept in contact between the 2 cars and just kept going.

We arrived home awfully exhausted but safe and sound only to find that to my awe our journey home had been tracked by 3 out of the 4 sets of parents. They could watch the car travel from Huddersfield to home. The parents all said how good it was and they'd no worries at all as they could see where we were.

I'm really not advocating this is employed in cars all of the time but think that it is definitely worth it on days like these. I did think that tracking devices were just for Wagons, police and 'Private Investigators ' but maybe not, you can use them exclusively for pure assurance "worth a thought.
