Discussing The Classifications Of Writers

By Fred C. Hernandez

Writing can either be a form of hobby or can be a form of occupation. People write to explore their feelings while others write for a living. This makes writing a rich art where there are several classifications involved. While some of them are classified primarily with what is being written, there are other forms of writing that remain unclassified.

There was a time when creative writing was used to define anything written with fiction or for the fact that the story or novel was based on fantasy or anything written on fiction. Poetry can also be considered creative writing. But now, creative writing has evolved into writing different forms of subjects that refer to the writer's style of creativity.

Anything that promotes a product or service is called copywriting. This is part of a marketing strategy that is being used by a lot of online businessmen today. They hire copywriters to promote their products through articles and reviews.

Copywriters usually have misleading definition. They are usually thought as someone who copies what others are writing about and this lack of knowledge can make a big difference when you choose a career as a writer and a copywriter. Copywriters are generally accepted as people who writer promotional materials.

Technical writers are usually partnered with copywriters. There are times when a technical writer also becomes a copywriter and vice versa. It is because technical writers write about the product in an informative manner without marketing the product. It is all about information and facts. They describe what the product is all about and what the product does.

Factual writing is all about writing what has happened and is based purely on facts and nothing else. Without facts, it can be called as creative writing or it falls on other categories of writing.

These categories usually differentiate each and every type of writer out there but there are also other writers that are left uncategorized such as those who write letters and statements. Still, they are considered writers especially those who write card greetings and such.

Such unclassified forms can now be treated as personal writing. A new category wherein such form of writing fit perfectly. A writer who writes personal materials can now be called as a personal writer. Examples of these are bloggers and those who own a journal.
