Alternatives to Sending an Anonymous Message Through Facebook

By Brian Badger

Social media has certainly changed the way we interact with others and socialize. We?re no longer limited to our immediate social circles. We can engage other people a half a world away. The new platforms have more than 500 people engaging on a daily basis using sites like Facebook, and some pay little attention to how they send their comments around the web.

For others, they like to be a bit smoother - like a social media ninja. There are a number of reasons someone might want to go silent and send an anonymous message through Facebook, such as:

* Tell off your boss * Tip off your crush that someone likes them * Connect with a lost lover * Blow the whistle on corruption * Provide a tip on illegal activity * Tell your neighbor to clean their damn yard up * Let a classmate know they need to shower after gym * Let someone know they talk entirely too loud * Inform a coworker that the breakroom is not the place to talk about things you like to scratch * Provide feedback to a retailer or business owner

Granted there are numerous ways to send an anonymous message in order to do all of those things but can you send an anonymous message through Facebook? The long and short of it is nope - at least not without a little (or a lot) of effort.

If all you have to access Facebook is your own personal profile then you can't send an anonymous message through Facebook. The info would show that it?s from you with your name and photo. This info is visible anytime you connect with someone else. Even if you could send a truly anonymous message, you likely wouldn't make it past the spam filters on the social network.

The only way to shoot for anonymous on Facebook is to actually make a completely separate profile to use for sending an anonymous message. Unfortunately that takes a lot of work and it means populating all the information fields and acquiring friends to make it look legit. Even then the person may not respond to you when you finally send the anonymous message - it's not truly anonymous it's just from some Joe they don't know.

If that sounds like too much work then try some of the other methods that are available online for sending an anonymous message - and none of them require as much work or the chance of compromising your identity. The best one to focus on is an anonymous messaging service that will allow you to contact people anonymously using either short email messages or a letter to a physical address.

Some even offer a paid premium service where you can send an anonymous letter with photos to a physical address. If you have a point to make and you want to ensure you're heard, you can use an anonymous message service like this to provide a great deal of information without ever revealing your identity.

You also don't need to sit for hours creating profiles just to send a simple message. Simply put your message in along with the ID of the recipient and you're done. The process is simple and you'll have that weight lifted from your chest in a matter of minutes. The truth really does set you free - and you don?t have to rely on Facebook to get there.
