A Great Process In How To Improve On Your English Language

By Randy Wagner

Out of all the languages around the globe, English is accepted as the universal language wherever you go and by improving your English can help put you in touch with more people than any other language. But, it is common knowledge that English can also be a very difficult language to master. However, if you apply some simple but very effective methods to your daily routine you can significantly enhance your English in a very quick manner and without even realizing the effort.

The best way to start off is by increasing the quality of your vocabulary. Try not to focus too much on the number of new words and place more emphasis on how words are best applied in sentences and phrases. If English is not your original language then, the best approach is to use a dictionary that has both English and your original language. Choose some popular English speaking phrases, that are used in everyday conversations, and select five words a day to practice in sentences. Practice using these words out loud over and over again until you feel comfortable using them in everyday conversations.

You will discover, that one of the greatest challenges in learning English is how to distinguish the many words that have more than one meaning. This can make you sound pretty ridiculous when you use the wrong word in a sentence because you have used the same word with a different meaning. As you build on your vocabulary, you need to practice the words in sentences and phrases over and over again until you are more comfortable using them in everyday English speaking conversations.

A very effective approach in improving your spoken English is by reading books. It's best if you find books that you have already read in your original language. It's more motivating to read a book that you're at least familiar with the story line otherwise, you run into the risk of loosing interest. Make sure you find books that have been originally written in your own language and translated into English, as these books have been re-written more similar to how your own language is written which will make it significantly easier to read.

The primary objective in mastering the English language is to get you thinking in English. The most effective way to do this is to say and think what you are doing in English as you go about your daily routines and tasks. As you do your daily task go ahead and try creating sentences describing what you are doing....e.g. "I'm ordering my lunch from a menu and selecting one of the specials of the day". This gets you used to thinking in English without translating and a good way to accurately understand how certain words can be properly used in sentences.

Watch the same film or TV show over and over again. It has to be really interesting therefore, try watching comedy or better yet....stand up comedians. Even if you don't understand it at first you will begin to appreciate the humor more as you watch it over and over again and understand a little more each time you watch it. Being entertained while learning is absolutely the best and most effective way to learn.

English children films and TV shows can offer a great deal more than you probably realize. This may sound a bit strange but, these shows are specially designed not only by the language but, the structure of the story itself is simplified and can make it an easy and motivating thing to watch. Additionally, the language is also often repeated in order to make it more memorable and the use of catchy songs and phrases can also enhance the positive effect on your memory.

Trying to master the English language can tend to be somewhat overwhelming however, by using some of these simple methods can provide a more manageable approach. By breaking it down into manageable segments and applying some simple but effective processes can expedite your learning experience much quicker than you realize. With a little discipline, you should take up some of these suggestions on a daily basis and you will quickly notice a significant improvement on listening, thinking and responding in English without a second thought.
