Some Advantages Of Having Your Own Dedicated Servers

By Arlene Parks

If you are not sure of what dedicated servers are, think of large organizations and companies like Facebook. Facebook literally has millions of users on its site every minute of every day. What makes it possible for it to handle such volumes is that it has dedicated computers that make it possible for the billions of activities of the users to happen each second. Without these computers, Facebook would not be able to handle such large amounts of users, data and activity on its site.

Essentially, these kind of computers are machines that are purchased and owned by large businesses, websites, organizations, and companies. The reason they are mostly owned by 'large' entities is because they're fairly expensive to purchase, maintain and upgrade. Not any individual or small business can afford these. They are used by large entities that can afford them and require the resources (such as bandwidth) to handle significant amounts of data, information and activity. The need for these computers stems from the fact that they're very secure, and are the most stable and reliable, in comparison with shared uk dedicated servers types.

Dedicated server is the opposite to shared ones, such as website hosting. This is one of the biggest benefits of these computers; they belong to the company only, they are not shared with other companies. This means that all the resources of a machine can only be used by the owner of these computers.

The biggest disadvantage of this machine is that they are expensive. Firstly, it costs a lot to purchase them (which is an actual machine and not just an abstract process on the internet), unlike paying for the use of a shared machine. Secondly, if the business requires more capacity it will have to pay for upgrades, or to purchase more machines.

More on the good side, the cost of purchasing these computers have dramatically decreased lately as their popularity has increased, and there are more suppliers. So, more companies and organizations are able to get their own server(s). And because of all the advantages the cost is often a small pain to bear.

One of the most important advantages of these computers is that they're stable. They are stable because the resources are not shared, so the user is not affected by the activities of the other server users. And, dedicated servers are better able to handle large amounts of activity and data. Sharing machines can cause long term problems for companies.

For example, if there are too few resources or the other users do things that could cause the site to experience crashes or downside, this could negatively affect your site or business. Visitors to a website will be forced to go to the competitors' sites during down time. This will result in a loss of traffic to the site, and a loss of income if you are earning from activity on the site, for instance, if you are selling products or services.

Ones website will decrease in popularity and your business will be negatively affected. To avoid this it is better that you get your own dedicated servers. This way you are guaranteed a reliable and secure service.
