Businesses And Organizations Of Various Types And Sizes May Benefit From Having 800 Numbers

By Marguerite D. Debord

Businesses and organizations of all types and sizes can thrive in the present day's ultra-competitive world by taking advantage of 800 Numbers. Most of us understand that 800 numbers offer customers and clients a quick, easy and free way to contact companies and organizations. Instead, the business or organization is charged for the incoming call.

There is no single answer as to how much a company is charged when someone makes an inbound call on a toll-free number since this depends on what type of telecommunication package the organization has and the number and types of incoming calls it takes. Clearly, it is not in the interest of any person, business or organization to simply just give away money for no reason whatsoever, so obviously, the companies and organizations that are using 800 numbers instead of standard local numbers are doing so because they have determined that offering their clients and customers a way to contact them toll free is in the end a way to increase their bottom lines.

Though, probably each and every one of us has called 800 numbers at some time in our lives since organizations have been utilizing them since the 1960's, the new form of toll free numbers that are offered by VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service providers are new and improved. These features are possible due to the advent of computerized technologies and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and assist organizations keep costs low while at the same time helping them keeping operational ability high. Though there are many, many features nowadays that are offered by a VoIP package, some of the standard features are inbound faxing, web interfaces, hunt groups, traditional voicemail and visual voicemail, auto attendant capability, rule-based messaging, and blacklisting capability.

Not everyone of these new features that come bundled with packages offering 800 numbers are well known, nor even easy to understand at first glimpse One example of one of these new, high-powered features is the new type of faxing capabilities which actually lets a company direct incoming faxes to email in-boxes, which will cut the costs and work hours normally needed by old-time faxing.

Hunt groups, on the other hand, are something many folks have never even heard of. A 800 numbers hunt group is the pre-routing of incoming calls to specific internal numbers, groups or lists. When this is done, the first number or person on the list is the first one called by incoming calls. So, if the secretary, for example, is out, the call will automatically go to the next number in line after the receptionist fails to answer the call. Obviously, this is an extremely important feature for businesses and organizations that have large staffs and a high volume of incoming calls.
