The Growing Universe Of Android

By Matt Jones

When Google looks into the future it looks extremely bright for their Android smartphone platform. If you don't want to go that far you could at least say that the future looks much more bright then it did around 2 years back when the Android smartphone platform made its debut. Back then it was just one single smartphone and didn't have much in terms of add-on application offerings.

During the presentation there were some rather impressive figures that we being touted.

* 100,000 new activations of an Android device every day

* 50,000 new acquisitions with the Android Market ever day

The Google team also demoed the new version of the Android software. Many are arguing that this is a major breakout for Android and a larger technological leap that there mere version number of 2.2 indicates.

Some of the interesting and breakthroughs offered within the version upgrade bundle that were out line within the presentation are:

* Much faster performance

* Flash support - There are many who find flash frustrating but having such is good as there are still many videos that require Flash. Important to note is that the iPhone can't play Flash and the Android phones can.

* Backup's automatically

With all of the good things being said about 'Froyo' perhaps the biggest turn off will be that one will have to contact one's cell phone carrier/service supplier and see if the carrier is going to be getting the upgrade. Many aren't right away and HTC for example is stating that all cell phones shipped in 2010 will more than like get the upgrade but only those in the second half of the year.

With extended battery life, this feature should have been advertised as one of the advanced features.

Down the hall from the keynote address was a glass case filled with cell phones and tablet computers which all run the Android software. An impressive demonstration of just how far and quickly the Android software has come. One could view the current hardware and was also given a glimpse into the future from countries/areas such as:

* Sony

* Samsung

* LG

* HTC

* Motorola

From viewing the line up one could confidently conclude that the if there isn't a phone to match your size and shape criteria now there soon will be - even if the hardware is not as elegant as that of the iPhones...

Perhaps with the given line up, people will finally stop asking about the Verizon iPhone.

The HDTV Antenna: Worth The Hassle?

By Jeff Smith

The HDTV antenna is all over the place these days. Now that the switch has been made from analog to digital broadcasting a lot of people are wondering... If you already have satellite or cable... Is it worth the hassle? It IS a few extra bucks and then you have to set it up and everything, so... How about it? Is it worth it?

Yes, and here's why...

It's Free

Really the argument begins and ends at "Free HDTV". The only reason this is a full length article is because nobody's going to bother reading a page that just says "FREE TELEVISION!" So here we are. Let's be honest, we're in the middle of a recession right now, so who can really afford to pass up free entertainment? It beats spending twenty bucks to go see a movie. It beats spending the extra money the cable and satellite providers want for these channels. For a measly few dollars for the antenna, you get free TV for life. There's no downside.

Local Color

Whatever happened to hometown pride? It seems like more and more the entire western world, and beyond, is being homogenized. Everything's the same these days, everywhere you go. You could drive from New York to Texas and eat at the same restaurants, stay in the same hotels, and watch the same television shows in every single city on the way from point A to point B. The local programming is practically all a city has that makes it unique anymore. Fewer and fewer towns have "That great mom and pop steak joint down the street" anymore. With a hundred channels, you get all the new shows you want to see, but you don't get to notice that the weatherman shops at the same grocery store as you.

The Complete Package

With cable PLUS an HDTV antenna, you get everything, and you don't have to pay extra to make sure you get the full package. Cable and satellite MIGHT provide local programming, but they usually charge extra for it. Why bother when you can get it for free? Honestly, there's simply no excuse for it. If you can spend a few bucks, just once, on an antenna, or a few extra bucks every single month for the same channels, why pay every month?

It IS True HDTV

You may think that your nice big HDTV will be going to waste picking up free TV... Not so. The HDTV being broadcast for free is the same stuff being sent out through cable and satellite in terms of definition. So long as you've set the antenna up where the signal can come in clearly, the image is just as crisp and clean as anything you'll get from your HD DVD player.

It's Fun

It's actually kinda fun to be able to pluck free television programming out of thin air with the antenna. It's sort of an old fashioned, geeky, nostalgic high. As great as modern television is, there's something to be fun for the old school charm of watching television the way we did as children. This, plus the choice provided by modern television providers, makes for the full package.

Accessing Reverse Cellular Phone Directories

By Roger Phillips

One of the easiest ways so that you can easily locate the unregistered calls that you have been receiving is through the various reverse cellular phone directories in the internet. With the help of these tools, you can easily identify the name of the prankster and you can also easily locate your long lost friend or relative.

No matter what your purpose for this task, it cannot be denied that it is really very essential that you know how to access these reverse cellular phone directories. With the help of these tools, you can immediately determine who is calling you and learn about his address, civil status, date of birth, and a whole lot more.

The only problem is that there are a lot of sites that offer these kinds of services. And if this is just your first time, you may be a little confused. So if you really want to have the best reverse cellular phone directories, you have to make sure that you know the different features that you should look at in a particular database.

As much as possible, you should look for a database that is very extensive. If possible, you should look for those that covers the entire United States and includes each and every subscriber. However, this feature is not yet totally accomplished by any site because the government does not really require the different companies to enter their data in any public record.

There is also a need for you to make sure that the information that you are receiving is really reliable. As much as possible, it should be able to provide you with results that are accurate, updated, and double checked. This is very important because it can be very dangerous to rely on unreliable information.

You should also see to it that the site that you are using is really easy and simple. Of course, you do not want to use something that is very complicated because it may just confuse you.

You also need to know that some of these reverse cellular phone directories are being offered for free. However, it is still much better if you are going to use a premium one because it is more effective, reliable, and safe.

It is indeed very easy to access the best reverse cellular phone directories but only if you know the tools that you are going to use.

However, it should be noted that this is an only a solution for the short term. The screen for the iPhone has more than a single layer, which is the reason that most initial cracks aren't devastating, but once the glass is compromised it will crack some more sooner or later.

Also, it is interesting that when you bring your iPhone to the Apple store, the first question you will probably be asked will be if your iPhone had a case for it.
